Sight Unseen: International Photography by Blind Artists.
The Canadian Museum For Human Rights.
Upcoming: February through September, 2016
"Sight Unseen presents work by the most accomplished blind photographers in the world. The exhibition comes out of my decades-long obsession with blindness and photography. I curated the original exhibition for the California Museum of Photography. It has since traveled to thirteen museums in five countries, including the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Centro de la Imagen in Mexico City, Flacon in Moscow, the Sejong Center in Seoul. Duchamp wrote of 'non-retinal art,' art of concept. This is non-retinal photography. The blind artists of this exhibition practice a deeply modern photography, an inherently conceptual art of idea." curated by Douglas McCulloh www.douglasmcculloh.com
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is the world's first museum dedicated to the evolution, celebration and future of human rights. The spectacular $350 million museum is an official "national museum" of Canada.
